This is such a great meal to make in the slow cooker. You toss it into the pot before you leave for work or class and come home at night to one of the best smelling things in the world. On top of that, these are fall-off-the-bone tender. Who can pass up tender, easy, delicious ribs? I know I can’t!

Slow Cooker Ribs
adapted from allrecipes.com
4 pounds pork baby back ribs
salt and pepper to taste
1 bottle BBQ sauce (I used Sweet Baby Ray’s Original)
3/4 cup ketchup
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
4 tablespoons vinegar
2 teaspoons dried oregano
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
1 dash hot sauce
- Preheat oven to 400°F.
- Season ribs with salt and pepper. Place in a shallow baking pan. Brown in oven 15 minutes on each side and drain fat.
- In a medium bowl, mix together the BBQ sauce, ketchup, brown sugar, vinegar, oregano, Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, and salt and pepper. Place ribs in slow cooker, pour sauce over ribs, and turn to coat.
- Cover, and cook on low 6 to 8 hours, or until ribs are tender.

Those look delicious! Definitely going on my fall to cook list.
btw, i really enjoy your posts
Thanks so much! I hope you enjoy the ribs!
Do the ribs need to be split individually ahead of time?
Nope, you just need to make sure they fit in the slow cooker in some form! I cut them after I cooked. I also found that it helped to rotate the ribs once during cooking so that the ones on the bottom are on the top and vice versa so that they all get the same amount of time in the sauce. Hope this helps!
Ran into your site while looking for a recipe for ribs. I tried it and they were quite yummy, thanks for sharing! I will be returning to your site for more recipes
Thanks Liz! I’m glad you enjoyed the ribs
can i use spare ribs instead i can’t find baby back ribs
Spare ribs should work, too. It may take longer for them to cook to a fall-off-the-bone stage though!
this recipe was delicious i used spare ribs cooked for 8hrs and the meat was falling off the bone, this was my first time making ribs, and it was a surprise dinner for my boyfriends birthday when he got home he was surprised, the house was smelling good, he loved the ribs. Thanks for the recipe.

Would human ribs work in this recipe?
Basically you copied this recipe off another site, but good job either way. I’ve had the original recipe bookmarked since 2004. Altho the original called for ketchup, you sub’d for BBQ, otherwise identical to the T.
Hi Bill – yes, this recipe was adapted from one I found on allrecipes.com, as indicated by the line underneath the recipe title. If you cannot offer anything other than backhanded compliments, please do not bother writing anything at all.
However, thanks to your comment, I re-read my post and I found a spacing error in my post. So, thanks for that!
I do this in the opposite order: first I cut the rib racks to fit the crock pot, then heavily season them. I slow-cook for about 7 hours. Then, I apply new sauce and have hubby grill the ribs to make them outsides crisp. Fantastic either way, I imagine.
I’ve been looking for a good slowcooker Rib recipe for years and this one was perfect!!! Am now making it for my parents and in-laws during the Christmas Holidays
These ribs are fantastic, and so easy. The look on my boyfriends face when he got home and realized what was in the slowcooker was priceless, he loved them!
